Birthdays & Zebras
Happy 18th Birthday Dorothy! Sorry that I was late to your celebration. Although I enjoyed the savory cheddar cheese and smoked salmon crepe that I had, I didn't really think it was worth the price. Ah well, my fault. But anyways, hope your 18th year on planet Earth will be the same mixture of the mundane and the exciting as you've experienced in your preceding years.
I don't even know why I directed that to her; she'll probably never read this.
Afterwards, Andrea and I went with Liliana and Aleesa to Zebra Tattoo and Body Piercing to schedule appointments for their tattoos. I didn't realize how expensive those things are, so I hope the results are worth the money they'll pay. I don't think I'll ever get a tattoo, but hey, I'm young.

Smallworld
Everytime I attend the annual Smallworld Park School Picnic I get hit in the face with nostalgia. It's like the park is frozen in time as I see familiar faces, eat familiar food (but no hot dogs for me this year, Mr. Siino!), and hear the familiar sounds of the screaming kids on the train and music from the merry-go-round.
All of this is happening as I watch kids chase each other in games of freeze-tag (or regular tag but that's lame), while others are holding hands with their first boyfriends or girlfriends, insisting that their relationships are serious and that they love each other. Of course, if they really do happen to live happily ever after then hats off to them.
I used to be one of those kids running around. I used to look on the bigger kids in awe and wonder, aren't they bored just sitting around and talking like that? I had a hard time trying to imagine a Smallworld Picnic without a game of boys-versus-girls tag or a ride on the train. But now here I am typing these words one week away from my high school graduation, and I'm having a hard time trying to imagine what life in college away from home will be like.
